Trump Has Kicked His Base in the Face Over Ukraine

No rational reason to be propping up House Speaker Mike Johnson over massive military aid bill

You have to admire the constitution and resilience of former President Donald Trump. Not many men could face unrelenting legal challenges without showing the strain with the occasional breakdown or at least breaking into a profuse sweat when facing those cameras. Trump is not only bearing under the strain but running for president.

Yet do we yet know this man even after four years in the White House and another three-and-a-half of insisting he should still be there? How could Trump support this $95 billion aid package to Ukraine, Israel and other hangers-on? House Speaker Mike Johnson not only got on his knees, subservient to the Washington establishment by supporting this infusion of cash into the black hole of Kyiv, he lay prostrate on the floor and let the Military Industrial Establishment roll over him. Clearly, Johnson is bought and paid for by the D.C. insiders and his claims to be a populist conservative were flagrant lies that seemed to have the ring of truth at the time. He is nothing but a febrile RINO who thought the best way to replace the duplicitous Keven McCarthy was to simply feign shock that such a poor excuse for a principled Republican could ever ascend to the Speaker’s chair.

Trump decided to get on the floor with him and when he got back on his feet and brushed the dust from his suit it was to “stand with the speaker; we’ve had a very good relationship." How nice. But it’s a relationship that Trump could very well live to regret.
